You are right - this web page is like a used car salesman on steroids. Sure, the blinking text and typos and non-stop banner ads are overdone, but NOTHING is more annoying than trying to close a browser window and seeing three more pop up to take its place. I would NEVER, EVER click on a banner that is done that way, and I hope others won't either.

I would like to know, If others find that some sites, that try to promote, sell, make a quick quid etc, are just plain ugly, they promote it as if its a pro site even spend money on ads eg. do they not notice, do ppl out there care about this. or is it just me being a visual person (ie NLP)
here is an eg that im talking about

I am in complete agreement with your comments. This site is excellent for showing others what is absolutely the most lame amateur attempt of web page design & layout, not to mention to absolute NOT TO DO marketing tecniques, that I have ever experienced in my Internet experience of. I am keeping the address handy in order to show others, and clients as well, what may result from unprofessional attempts to "Market" oneself or ones ware.
One final mention about typos, unfortunately if you choose too call others on this issue, make absolutely sure to carefully proof your own work before posting it... :-)
ie: "new brower pop-up windows"
It seems to kock the wind out of the sails of credibility, so to speak.

Re: Extremely Overdone by Tech Mailings Guy on 22 Jul 1999 17:28:32 GMT
What is the real measure of a successful web site?
Looks? Bank balance? Technical expertise?
I haven't save the site in my list of favourites. I don't keep junk mail either. But guess what - sometimes something catches my eye and I think 'that looks okay' and waste a buck or too.
PS: Hated the exit-trap. When sites do that I sometimes wish there was a way I could inconvenience and irritate the author a little.

You're quite right but -- you need to check out your own spelling! The paragraph below is copied from your review:
You name it: animated gifs, blinking text, banner ad after banner ad after banner ad, typos galore ("CLICK HERE TO PUT THIS FREE SERVICE ON YOU OWN WEB SITE!"[Sic],) an horrendous cookie bombarbment, and just when I thought I'd seen it all and was trying to escape this nightmare: bang! bang! Bang! Individual, new brower pop-up windows opening for each and every advertiser featured with banners on the danged page!
"AN horrendous..." Shouldn't that be "a horrendous..." and "bombarbment" should have been "bombarDment" and "new, brower windows" should have been "new, browSer windows.."
Shame on you --
