While this is billed as an "open discussion" list about multi-media presentations, it consists primarily of announcements. But they're valuable ones, well worth reading for anyone involved in making multimedia presentations.
The list's owner, Sue Cunningham, writes, "Multimedia is a very broad term, in this context it is taken to mean some combination of text, graphics, sound, video and animation delivered or coordinated using a computer."
Cunningham is multimedia support officer for the Computer Graphics Unit, Manchester Computing Centre, at the University of Manchester (UK). The scubscriber base is in the hundreds, not thousands, and from their posts, virtually all seem to be professionals in the field.
Queries and requests for help are welcome, but Cunnigham specifically seeks "How I did it" posts that tell how you solved a multimedia-related problem or came up with a new concept, so that other readers may follow in your footsteps.
Look for a slight academic tinge, and a certain amount of Eurocentrism here, but most of the posts are valuable for multimedia designers anywhere, whether they are affiliated with learning institutions or purely commercial concerns.
