CISCO is about...Cisco products. This isn't the big U.S.-based "worldwide" Cisco e-mail discussion group that mirrors the Cisco Usenet group, but a smaller, newer, and in some ways warmer, British cousin.
According to the list's owner, Sam Wilson, of Edinburgh University Computing Service, "The list is intended for discussions on any topic - hints and tips on how to configure things; where to find that elusive item in the manual; what happens when you do *this*; what features and bugs have appeared with the latest release; how Cisco products compare with other people's and so on."
Wilson continues, "The intended audience ranges from those who are just eavesdropping to see if the Cisco products are suitable for them, to those who have Cisco products and would benefit from 'shared experience' of making them work. If you're at either end of this spectrum you're very welcome, indeed encouraged, to join in discussion with your own comments, perspective and experience."
We found this Cisco group superior in many ways to the larger U.S.-based one, but don't think that "smaller" means "tiny." It averages well over 20 messages daily, and the membership seems to be just as international as that other list, and especially U.K-oriented.
