DVD TALK is about DVD movies. Not the machines that play them, but the movies themselves, with reviews, "top ten" lists, and plenty of advice on where to buy them for the lowest possible price. The newsletter is an adjunct to the popular DVDtalk.com Web site, and information generally goes into the newsletter first, so this is a "must subscribe" for any movie fan who owns a DVD player.
Geoffrey Kleinman, who describes himself as the "driving force" behind DVD Talk, says he, "...created DVDTalk.com out of frustration. I couldn't find one single site I could go to to get no-nonsense information about DVD's. More importantly I am always on the look out for good DVD bargains, which are entirely too hard to find."
The DVD Talk newsletter is a natural outgrowth of the Web site. It's heavy on finding free movie, two-for-one, and other special sales deals before the usual online pack chews them to death. It could easily be called "The DVD Bargain-Hunter's Guide."
This is an excellent example of a newsletter and Web site that have staked out a small online niche and "work" it well. Obviously, if you're not interested in buying, selling or talking about DVD movies it is of no interest to you. But if DVD movies are one of your passions, it is near-essential weekly reading.
