KGISL-Learn Linux
LearnLinux sounds like a great name for a mailing list where you can go and soak up advice while you're a newbie. It should be that and more, but it isn't there quite yet.

Usually I don't mention lists that seem to be foundering in the throes of premature death. However, the name of this list intrigued me, and it struck me that a list with such a name should be a popular one. I wondered why, then, when I visited, that there was no one around. With so many people out there wanting to learn Linux, it should be teeming with subscribers.

In my wondering, I came to the conclusion that it's probably because 1) It is way too easy to create a mailing list these days. That's why when you browse through the available lists at eGroups, you'll see that the vast majority of them have fewer than five members and messages. Also, 2) there is a proliferation of Linux mailing lists. Consequently, this one got lost in the big pile of hay that is eGroups.

But it's such a good name, I thought it deserved a little recognition. If you're a Linux newbie, pull this one out of the dirt. Go join, post and tell your friends.
