BRIAN'S EDUCATIONAL WEB SITES NEWSLETTER is one of those resources which it is a joy for me to review. The Web site and newsletter are produced by a guy named Brian Wasson, who is a computer teacher in New York. If you are interested in education, as a parent, student, teacher, or just because you are, this is a resource you should give serious consideration.
What Brian's Educational Web Sites Newsletter does is make it a little easier for you to find sites which you or your family or students will learn from and enjoy. Brian does all the work for you. And there is value here. The Web site that supports this newsletter boasts visitors from 28 countries, a full 30% of which come back to it many times during the day. I consider that a solid recommendation.
Here's a sampling from the March, 1999, archives pointing to online tutorials for people new to the Web:
"For those of you new to the Internet and Web there are numerous sites that have been created to assist you in learning how to surf, send email, create web sites, etc. Many of these sites are also useful for the experienced 'net surfer. In fact, as I was beginning my teaching career as a computer teacher, I often referred to these sites as a reference on many topics. Tutorials are also a great way to stay on top of the educational technology field. As new products and technologies are devloped, new tutorials are created on the 'net.
"It does take some time finding many of the good tutorials. However, I have gathered several of the best as this week's Top 10 Web Sites. Here are a few:
"Web Novice www.webnovice.com/start/guide/default.html
"Beginners Central northernwebs.com/bc
"Internet 101 www2.famvid.com/i101/
"The RoadMap netsquirrel.com/roadmap96/syllabus.html
"How To's on All 'Net Procedures blenheim.webgate.net/services7.html
"Dr. Internut's Guide lake-online.com/internut/linkz.htm ..."
I found the tone here uplifting, conversational, and family-friendly. It's a very good place to learn more about the Web and resources for learning on the Web. Recommended.
