4TheProfitz
The 4THEPROFITZ newsletter is offered by a Web site called It's A Winner run by an outfit calling itself GlobalAds, Inc. The homepage for this site looks very much like the old AOL Web page, complete with an image of a highway as the background, and mock roadsigns forming an image map to lead to the pages offered here, including the 4TheProfitz subscription page.

I tried not to let this turn me off. There's nothing inherently wrong with blatantly copying a good idea or concept --- if you honestly believe it's a good idea. I clicked through to get a better notion of what was being offered.

I went to the page where GlobalAds, Inc. offers their Free Web Site Promotional Tools. What I found was their offering of four types of banner ads: "What Happened On This Date In History," "Virtual Greeting Cards (online postcards,)" and a "Submission Service to over 1,000 FFA [Free-For-All] pages," and "Classified Ads."

Their introduction said:

"We are starting out with a limited number of banners but will soon have different banners to chose from.

"If you are a webmaster or have a web site someplace on the net, we have the promotional tool that will help drive traffic to your web site. The best part is that all tools on this page can be used by you free of any cost! as long as the following terms of service are complied with."

This is followed by the terms of service which basically state that no sites offering offensive material, including material not listed but considered offensive by GlobalAds Inc. would be prohibited from using these advertising banners. Then, if you pass muster, you get listings of the code to place on your Web pages. Basically, if you are acceptable, you get free advertising from which GlobalAds Inc. expects to make some money.

The more I looked around this site, the more I got the idea that *you* might make some money from what was offered here but --- like those free promotional tools I just mentioned --- GlobalAds Inc. would most definitely make money from your Web pages and the help they offer you here.

That told me enough about what we can expect from the 4TheProfitz newsletter and who the "profitz" would be for, first and foremost, in this case. Not Recommended.
