If you live in Sydney, Australia, check out the SLUG. That's the Sydney Linux Users Group. Their mailing list is open to anyone interested in getting chummy with members, answering and asking questions, or just lurking in order to absorb as much information about Linux as possible.
Before you decide, take a look at the online message archives. Like most LUG mailing lists, members are quite prolific when it comes to producing messages. I always recommend you subscribe to the digest version so as not to overload your inbox (as if it weren't already taxed). The LUG mailing list that I am currently subscribed to doesn't have a digest version. Go figure.
Even if you're not Australian, it might prove interesting and educational to become a part of the community. There's certainly an abundance of helpful advice and information for all levels of expertise.
