GLOBALCAST is a comprehensive, highly informative free newsletter which reproduces many of the stories and links to international news organizations featured on Globalvue's Web feature of the same name. For managers, students, Web developers and journalists interested in international cultural and Internet news this may well be the premiere source.
Globalcast's vision is firmly rooted in the concept of localization. They write on their "Vision" page:
"... Successfully taking a multi-local approach requires fundamental changes in how companies develop and market goods, manage resources and relationships, and share intelligence. It necessitates not only a healthy understanding and respect for regional vagaries, but the ability to translate that knowledge into innovative business models, products & services, and promotional efforts..."
Globalcast draws its information from sources as diverse as The Korea Times, BBC, Advertising Age International, Reuters, and the Hindu Times, to name but a few, in order to provide comprehensive "snapshots" of Internet developments around the planet. Each edition Tech Mailings Guy looked at had at least one provocative article from one of the many international news sources on this site and newsletter offers from the Globalcast team themselves.
The founder of Globalvue, Jennie Bettles, has an extensive global marketing background. This shows in the offerings here.
Here's a snippet from a recent edition of the newsletter:
"Global - Competing on Knowledge: The Real Challenge , In The Lead
"Most CEOs of the world's major organizations recognize that in knowledge management resides the opportunity to gain clear and sustainable competitive advantage. Most senior executives also acknowledge that people are the critical element in these efforts. Yet disproportionate focus is placed on technologies such as intelligent agents, 3D visualization, and Intranets. In fact, its typically IT, not historically schooled in cultural dynamics, that drives knowledge projects. This article points out the importance and complexity of the human element. "Global - Confusion Marketing? , Global Campaigns
"Confusion marketing is just what it sounds like - confuse the consumers so much that they can't figure out if they are getting the best deal or not, or if the competitor is any kind of deal, so they just give up and stick with your company. Confused? Consumers increasingly want to - and are able to - make informed choices. Some companies no longer feel safe when customers start looking at numbers too closely. "Global - Yankelovich Sees Big Marketing Changes , Global Campaigns
"This article presents a topic that's critical for business and marketing folks everywhere. Striking at core of how most companies have built their brands, the newly appointed president of Yankelovich Parters discusses the fundamental shift towards a consumer led marketplace. Amid an environment where consumers are increasingly overwhelmed and resentful of how they're marketed to, this piece stresses the need to develop relationships with consumers and overall, make serious departures from the traditional marketing techniques most of us grew up with. Source: Reuters..."
Those are just three of the informative features linked to in that edition of this newsletter. There were nearly 30 such provocative pieces in the archived edition I looked at. Highly recommended.
