POOR RICHARD'S WEBSITE NEWS is written and distributed by Peter Kent, a gentleman we consider one of the world's finest authorities on low-cost Website building, maintenance, and promotion. We subscribed to this list long before TechMailings was more than a gleam in our designer's eye, and plan to keep our subscription forever.
This newsletter is a blatant plug for Peter's book, Poor Richard's Web Site, which, according to Peter, is full of "Geek-Free, Commonsense Advice on Building a Low-Cost Web Site."
What can we say? We agree. We have a copy sitting on the shelf to the left of the computer we have at home. We use it to design Websites for our family and friends. Great book. We've learned a lot from it. But we've learned not to loan it out, because people who borrow it want to keep it. We just tell them to buy their own copy.
But the newsletter is a useful adjunct to the book. It tracks new stuff and has a constant stream of useful tricks and information, Website promotion news, and other Webmaster-oriented goodies. And yes, it's as geekspeak-free as the book. Anyone, even the most lost AOL puppy in the world, can learn how to build a cost-effective small business Website from it.
