MACCOM's publishers ask the rhetorical question, "Why compute alone, when you can join a Macintosh community?" A smarty-pants would say, "Because I don't have a Mac." But for those who do own Macs, MacCom is an excellent, possibly even essential, publication.
"The goals of MacCom," it says on their about page, "are to help Macintosh users learn more about their Macs through our reviews, news, tips, information, articles, etc. and have fun doing so with the chance of winning great software through our contests. We also hope our publication improves our subscriber's productivity and fun with both novice and professional Macintosh users and to unite the Macintosh online community (by encouraging and helping each other). The focus of MacCom is the best operating system on the planet, Mac OS.We emphasize quality Macintosh products and the purchase of these products. The MacCom staff hopes that our subscribers find our publication both entertaining and helpful."
The publication has been around since 1996 and goes out to (claimed) over 6,000 subscribers. All back issues are available on the MacCom website but, warn the publishers, "Advertisements, special offers, opinion polls, surveys, and contests are only available to subscribers to MacCom and are not provided on this Web site."
This is a fine, 100 percent independent, fully-realized, ad-supported e-zine. Anyone planning on publishing one of their own should check out MacCom first. It's one of the best!
