INTERNET RESEARCH NEWS is for, well, people like us. Doing TechMailings every day takes plenty of online research. The better and faster we do it, the earlier we get to go home, so we're always looking to learn new tricks of the trade.
Seriously, producing TechMailings and our brother website-oriented review feature, TechSightings, along with all the other resource-rich Websites, is a daunting task. These two sites alone eat up almost 30 hours of online research time in the average week.
And don't tell us to get a faster connection, either. We already have a cable modem, so download speed is no longer an issue for us!
No, the trick for us -- and for all other professional online researchers -- is to make our searches more efficient. and this means keeping up with the various specialized search engines and (GAG!)portals out there, how they work, what features they offer (including hidden ones) and how they change. This is the only way we can hope to stay even halfway ahead of the game and still get home in time for dinner.
A fast daily read of Internet Research News will more than make up for the reading time it absorbs if you spend any serious percentage of your workday engaged in Web-based research. Which we do. And we read Internet Research News religiously, and pick up all the tricks we can from it, we're now done for the day and headin' out, even though it's only four o'clock...
