THE NAKED PC NEWSLETTER is one heck of a "Made you look!" name, isn't it? We expected to find it full of some sort of involved PC-porn, with steamy photos of mating connectors and zero-force socket insertions. You know, the sort of thing you always suspected went on late at night when you weren't watching your computers. But all we found here was an informative, well-written newsletter full of hardware and software tips. Oh, well.
Seriously, this is a truly top-end, award-winning newsletter, written by a large bunch of intelligent contributors, that covers all sorts of neat 'puter stuff. Maybe the cute name brings 'em in the first time, but it's the content that keeps 'em coming back for more.
The house boast, "What You Need to Know about All Things PC," is a bit hyperbolic for our taste, but what the hey. Who'd want to read an e-mail newsletter that only claimed to include What You Just Maybe Might Like to Know about a Few Things PC?
Here's another one of their boasts. But after looking through the back issues, we'll happily certify this one as 100 percent true:
Here at TNPC we vow to help make your daily PC experience a more productive one. There are plenty of good books, newsletters, and e-zines out there (we should know -- we write and contribute to them), but we bring you content with a spin you won't find elsewhere. Like the good neighbor who's also a computer consultant, we offer you -- for free -- our latest thinking and advice on what you need to know about your PC. It will be as though we're sitting right there at your office or home, talking with you in person about the issues at hand. Friendly, accurate, to the point, no-nonsense advice from people you can trust.
