WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS ONLINE NETWORK (WEON) NEWSLETTER has a fairly conventional thrust and a strong marketing bent. It is (obviously) aimed at women, and specifically at women who own their own small businesses and are discovering the Internet as a business tool for the first time.
Their Web site says, "WEON's mission is to create a network of women entrepreneurs who will tutor and support each other, share their insights and skills, and help newcomers gain the opportunity and exposure needed to succeed in modern commerce."
There is more emphasis on personal issues than in typical, male-oriented business newsletters, which generally do not have a "beauty tips" section or run feature articles about writing love letters on their associated Web sites.
But beneath the feminization, this is a fairly typical rah-rah e-mail marketing newsletter, with the usual quota of "self-improvement" audio tapes and other material for sale, and the usual advice about how to get your Web site top search engine billing by purchasing software to which the newsletter's owners just happen to provide a link (in exchange for a sales commission paid by the software publisher), and so on.
If you have moderate small or home-based business experience in a marketing-oriented field and you're just discovering the WWW -- and you're female -- the WEON NEWSLETTER is probably worth reading. Otherwise, probably not.
