This is a good one to subscribe to. Just about each day, the list owner sends a message out detailing the latest Linux software to hit the FTP server at METAlab.

There are consistently at least five new programs each day. The newsletter describes each offering well enough that you can determine ahead of time whether it would be worth the trek to the site to download the program.

I'm betting you'll find quite a few that suit your needs. One of the nicest things about this list is that you needn't miss out on all the past announcements. The archives are publicly available at eGroups.com.
