INTERNET SCAMBUSTERS is a "gotta check this one out" name, and we were gratified to find that there's plenty of solid content behind it, not just fluff. It comes out monthly and is well worth waiting for. The advice here is valid both for consumers and Internet merchants, because fraud is not only perpetrated by businesses against individuals, but can go both ways.
The publishers of Internet Scambusters claim to produce "The Premier Publication On Internet Fraud -- Fraud, Misinformation And Hype."
We can't necessarily say this is true, because we (surely) haven't seen every newsletter and Web site that tackles dishonesty, but Internet Scambusters is well-written, accurate, and covers a wide range of subjects. We are glad we ran across the newsletter and its associated Web site, because even we old hard-bitten business and Internet veterans learned from it during our "trial" subscription.
But the newsletter isn't 100 percent of the show here. The INTERNET SCAMBUSTERS Web site is chock-full of scambusting news, tips, and links. It is as essential a resource as the newsletter itself.
We won't give you a list of topics covered in either the newsletter or on the Web site; it would turn this short review into half a book. In fact, we'll take a break from our usual policy of giving you a taste of the newsletter's content, and simply tell you we feel it's well worth suscribing to, and that you'll do yourself an extra favor by reading the archives, which are as informative as the current issues.
