This isn't really one of the largest Linux-related mailing lists in the world. Maybe it used to be, but it's not anymore. Regardless, there is still good information to be found in the archives.
How many Linux lists can we be subscribed to and still have room in our e-mail inboxes?
Quite a few, evidently.
Regardless, this is an eGroups list, which is nice because the archives are publicly available. That means you don't have to subscribe and commit yourself before you take a look at the content and community available. Try before you buy, so to speak.
Here's a comment from a user:
"I just want to say that one may not realize how valuable a list like this one is until he is up at 2:00 am trying to tweak Linux on his home computer. I am really greatful for this list. With that said, I have two questions:
"1. I have RedHat Linux 5.x installed on my computer. I got it from a "Teach Yourself Linux in 24 Hours" book. I have a dual boot with Windows 95 (b). Currently when it comes up, it boots into Linux by default. I'd like to have it boot up in Windows 95 as default, since my wife and kids use the computer during the day when I am at work. I went into the lilo.conf file and tried swapping things like someone said on a newsgroup, but they were not clear enough in what to swap and needless to say, it did not work. Can someone provide me with idiot instructions and possibly an already switch configuration example? I'd really appreciate it.
"2. I read stuff about creating a boot disk for Linux startup. Is it possible to get rid of Lilo, have the computer normally boot up in Windows 95 but if I stick a Linux boot disk in there, have the computer boot in Linux? If so, how, and what are the pros and cons of doing so."
