The YOUTH-TECH NEWSLETTER could easily be called "Future Geeks of America." This is a site for teens and young adults who are interested in Information Technology and it is extremely well done. If you're a local high school nerd, or you want to be, this newsletter is for you.
Like a number of newsletters and discussion groups I have noticed lately, this one's Web site is housed over on the Egroups , so you can peruse the list before deciding to subscribe. And, yes, it's free. This is basically a list for young computer geeks who also subscribe to AOL. (We don't hold that against them.) Their AOL keyword is "YT."
What I like about this newsletter/discussion list is that is maintained and supported by the kids getting into technology.
Being on Egroups makes it easy to find and use. Here's a listing of the newsletter contents back in mid-March:
". . . . . . . . Da Inside Jabber . . . . . . . . .
"TECHISH TALK: How many fonts do u really need for 1 'lil person?
"RANDOM THOUGHT: My baby's finally back, and workin' great
SPOTLIGHT: Bits of Bytes, stay on top of Technical news; daily.
"CHAT SNIPITS: What are crazy people like you sayin in our room?
"YTCC FACTOIDS: This week we bug YTCC Chris for some facts :)
"POLL ZONE 101:Your thoughts on last week's poll + a new one!"
According to their Egroups presence, Youth-Tech had over 18,000 members (and growing) as of March of this year.
You can't get the newsletter contents from the Egroups presence. To get the newsletter you have to subscribe.
All I know is that if I were still 15 and were looking for a newsletter that catered to my need in a hip and happening way, I'd probably subscribe to Youth-Tech, and then convince by peers that there was more to Internet life than AOL.
