ADLAND DIGEST is a discussion list for business people who advertise in Adland Classified, run by Softfornet, Ltd. If you have a small or medium size business, especially an Internet business, it looks like a nice resource for tips on everything from translation services to fending off credit card fraud.
Especially if you are a small business person, it's a great way to converse with others in the same boat and learn from their experience. The only catch I can see is that you also have to run Adland classified. But if you are game to do that, I'd say take a look at this list. An archive of the discussion list, which is produced in digest form, can be found on the Web site.
They describe themselves on the Web site this way:
"Adland Digest is a place for users of Adland Classifieds to discuss issues regarding advertising and promotion for small business on the Internet. This mailing list is moderated and distributed in form of digest. Subscribers of the Adland mailing list are expected to follow basic rules in a civilized manner..."
In other words, let's not waste time with flames. In the sample digest I read were entries like these:
" From: Laurie D....
" Subject: RE:How to post your site in a different language
"Use these:
"META HTTP-EQUIV='Content-Language' CONTENT='en-GB'
"This will allow to show your site in en=English, or GB=British -whichever the reader has his browser set to ."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~
"Note from Editor.
"I believe Laurie was responding to L.C.Borsboom posting in last digest 'English in Spain'.
"Although pointer given here is useful, doesn't address the issue L.C.Borsboom raised in regards to languages.
"As far as I'm aware Content-Language for META HTTP-EQUIV will only help browser in displaying proper character set. This is apparent when browsing sites which have non-English characters or at least not the ones from set of 256 standard characters."
If these are the kinds of tips you might need, check this list out.
