The BANKRUPTCY SERVICES.NET NEWSLETTER will probably be of more interest to attorneys looking to drum up business via the Web than any of the rest of us. What the Web site is basically about is supplying a database, by state, of attorneys. The newsletter focuses on how attorneys can get listed in the database and better offer their services to Web surfers.
Not being an attorney, nor someone planning a bankruptcy, this site did not jazz me. But you might be either, or just curious and want to check it out. There is not an archive of the newsletter on the Web site, so if you would like to try it, you have to fill out the subscription form there.
There was a FAQ on the site which I decided to take a look at in case I had missed some intricacy or added-value to this place. But it was more of what one might expect. Here's a brief excerpt:
" How will the Bankruptcy Laws protect me?
"Answer: From the moment you file, all your creditors (i.e. anyone you owe money to) will automatically be stayed (that is, stopped) by the Automatic Bankruptcy Stay from commencing or continuing any legal proceedings against you or from harassing you, garnishing your wages or taking your property. Not only that, but all your dischargeable debts will be wiped out and you will never have to pay them.
"What kind of debts can't be wiped out in bankruptcy?
"Answer: Generally speaking, the following debts will not be discharged: taxes; spousal and child support; debts arising out of your willful misconduct and or malicious misconduct; liability for injury or death from driving while intoxicated; nondischargeable debts from a prior bankruptcy; student loans and criminal fines, penalties and forfeitures."
Like I said, not my cup of tea, but it might interest you.
