The BIZWOMEN LIST is a forum of discussion lists for women in business which is accompanied by a nicely designed and informative Web site. The site features sample comments from past postings in the discussion lists, organized by area. Very obviously, having been around since 1995, this group of women has gotten very good at organization and administration.
What I particularly like about their Web site is that information is easy to find, the design is tasteful, and the fruit of their collective experience is clearly in evidence.
Here's what BizWomen says about their list:
"Since its entrance into the commercial arena, the Internet, also known as the World Wide Web, has become a mecca for shoppers, tourists, and world travelers to the hundreds of thousands of corporate, public, government and educational sites 'on the net.'
"Many of these sites are owned by women entrepreneurs. To have a 'room of their own' many of these women have united and established communities and forums that span the globe, providing a common ground for the exchange of business and information networking.
"These women have a shared vision and a common dream: to realize their own potential as business owners, and to become a viable part of the new global marketplace.
"By Birth, We are Women. By Choice, We have become a Community of 'Cyber-Sisters.'
"Welcome to the "BizWomen" Lists
"Here you will find Articles, Commentaries, Discussions, Resources, Business Links, and so forth, all Spawned by the Enthusiastic Women who Subscribe to the BizWomen List."
When I sampled the archives featured on the Web site, I found intelligent, humorous, thoughtful comments from women all over the country and the globe. I didn't take the time to visit the archives of every single list. If you're a woman in business, you might want to, though.
TechMailings recommends this great Web site and forum of discussion lists for any woman looking for a well-organized, respectful and supportive online community.
Check it out.
