AAA EDUCATION RELATED SITES is one of the score of newsletters produced by Australia's WebScout, another one of those "portal" projects. When I went looking for their archives, I was directed to the WebScout homepage.
I guess this whole portal trend is a good thing; I just haven't personally taken to it. I find your old school search engine works just fine for my needs. But I also know lots of people are frustrated with search engines, and want to go somewhere where the chance exists that they'll find what they are looking for in just a couple of clicks.
WebScout is like that, though its listings aren't as comprehensive as one would expect. What they say is:
" We cruise Cyberspace searching for the Net's coolest sites!
"Your WebScout is one of the most useful Web sites you'll find. Our extensive index of reviews is extremely selective, it includes only the Net's very best Web sites, archives and discussion groups.
"You can receive reviews via our FREE weekly e-mail newsletter."
So you pick a category, like "AAA Education Related Sites Newsletter" and whenever they find a new site they like, they e-mail you with their review and the URL.
I clicked on "Education" at the WebScout site and found a listing of university and college related sites, adult education sites, and so on. I did not see any of the reviews.
So, I'll refrained from recommending or choosing not to recommend this newsletter, due to lack of readily accessible information. You might want to check it out.
