AppleScript-Users
The APPLESCRIPT USERS newsletter is for those Mac addicts out there who enjoy using one of Apple Computers' most commendable OS tools. What AppleScript does is make it easy to script repetitive tasks that you perform on your Mac day in and day out so that they become no-brainers. It's a very good scripting tool.

If you are one of those loyal Mac users, and you know the rudiments of AppleScript, this newsletter provides a great forum for sharing tips and tricks, asking questions about scripting problems you encounter, and just staying up-to-speed on scripting techniques.

Here is a sample portion of a thread from the newsletter's archives:

"Hi All,

"I am indeed a newbie to scripting Eudora Pro, but thanks to the kind wisdom of some members here, I DO know how to select which signature to use on a new message. Something like:

"set signature of newmessage to none

"However, and this may sound odd, but I'd like to set the CONTENTS of a particular signature through a script. Any info on how to do that would be much appreciated.

--------------------

"In Eudora light there's a signature folder inside the Eudora folder. It contains two plain text (but Eudora-creator type) files, for standard & alternate signature. So one can use AS to write different stuff to those files. With Pro, it may be possible to have multiple other signatures, I dunno.

"Joe

"P.S. I don't advise using alias files in place of the standard & alternate signature files (as a means of swapping one's sigs. about), as that has buggy outcomes, IMHO&HE.

-------------------------

"the signatures are plain text files, you can alter them with the usual file commands (open for access, read/write etc.)

-------------------------

"Yes...in Eudora's which allow more than the old two signatures, each is in its file, named with the signature name which is visible in the Signatures window.

"The signature on this message is the one whose path is Bainbridge:System Folder:Eudora Folder:Signature Folder:Putter around

(but of course, 'Eudora Folder' can be anywhere and have any name, to make life more fun).

--John..."

(NOTE: For those of you unaware, Eudora is an e-mail program which comes in various flavors, including "Light" and "Pro.")

My perusal of the archive found very involved threads that went on and on. That would seem to indicate a very active group of participants subscribing to this newsletter.

If you're a Mac person, and enjoy dealing with AppleScript, this is a newsletter you would probably want to receive. Recommended.
