123 TOOLBOX NEWS is a newsletter designed to assist both the novice and more experienced Webmaster in planning, designing, and promoting their Web site. As noted in other reviews here, the market of Webmasters needing this kind of advice is mammoth and growing daily. When a newsletter or e-zine of this nature is good, it can look forward to a growing future subscription base.
My first take on 123 Toolbox is that it uses a good approach, especially for the novice, in that it breaks Web development down into small, digestible steps. That's always a wonderful rule for dealing with complex tasks. This site and newsletter has done this by putting those steps into downloadable forms and software that subscribers can use to guide them through the Web site development process.
The first piece of such software is called "Site Planner." Here's the brief description provided:
" Site Planner Instructions
"Site Planner will help you to do two things: 1) Achieve Top-20 search status and 2) Produce a keyword-savvy 'Word Bank' for copying and pasting into listing and submission forms..."
(NOTE: I did not personally utilize the "Site Planner" tools, so I am not providing an endorsement of them. I like the concept they represent and believe, from what I read here, that they will work for many new Web site developers.)
What I like about this approach is that many of the tools you use come in free formats, like Adobe PDF files, which are readily accessible on the Internet, too. 123 Toolbox appears to want to make it as easy as possible for you to utilize their resources.
I also very much like the clear-cut, step-by-step instructions provided here. Many other development-assistance sites would do well to emulate this basic approach.
So whether you're an old hand at building Web sites, or someone just getting their feet wet, this site could be an invaluable way of assessing your progress. I would certainly suggest taking a look. Recommended.
