2000analysis
2000ANALYSIS is a list and site concerned with this year's No. 1 topic: Y2K. Unlike the doom and gloom columnists or the sites suggesting you load up on bottled water and Dinty Moore Beef Stew, 2000analysis points to "official" sources like the U.S. General Services Administration, and works to analyze their findings.

Their homepage introduction says:

"Introduction. Our site is mostly about official facts on Year 2000 computing risks, called "Y2K" ("2K" is short for 2000).

"If you got one of our emailable Guides, it likely came from a third person you'll want to reply to. Our Official Fact Guides to Y2K are about getting official info by phone, fax, or web (usually free). We prefer official analysis, but may add our own based on 31 years of defense & commercial projects, and Y2K research since 1997. We also help with: Readiness Resources & Research, Group, or Project Tools."

Though the tone is serious, the people behind 2000analysis are not stodgy. They include a collection of Y2K humor here, too. The site and list are run by a guy named Tim McCully who appears to know his stuff and wants to provide a resource for people of more than 17 years of age (he says so explicitly) who want this kind of information.

2000analysis is another of those lists whose archives you can preview on the ONElist server. When I checked the archives, I found this recent posting:

"Subject: Y2K Search Engine and Online Store

"Y2K Survival is a Y2K Search Engine, and you can also purchase Y2K Survival Products. Food and Emergency Equipment.

"To get the Latest Info on the Y2K go to Y2K Survival - Search Engine. http://www.incomemax.com/y2k

"WEBMASTERS would you like FREE Traffic to your Y2K Site
"Add your URL to our Search Engine. http://www.incomemax.com/y2k/links/cgi-bin/add.cgi

"Or Have your Banner Shown on 100's of Y2K Sites for FREE. Join our Y2K Banner Exchange http://wmn.linkopp.net/bannerx/y2k

"Good Luck in the Future May you all be prepared!

"Thank you..." [Sic]

That reads to me like one of those paid newsletter classified advertisements which are all the rage on the Web right now. But I can't hold that against 2000analysis.

Recommended.
