LEARN IT ON THE WEB! is the newsletter for the Web site of the same name. This is the second educational resource Tech Mailings Guy has come across in recent days which offers a compendium of free learning information on the Web for those of us who know we need to know more. This site and newsletter are produced by Mark X. Schambach of Mocksville, N.C., USA.
Mark says about his efforts:
"...This free newsletter features informative reviews of the best online resources for parents, teachers, students, home schoolers, and anyone who wants to unleash the powerful educational value of the Internet as a teaching tool..."
What Mark tries to do is a find a wide variety of good resources for all the people in his audience of subscribers and produce a good mix of reviews for each. Every edition of the newsletter gives a full review and notes on one resource.
In one of the editions I looked at, I found this lead:
"www address: http://www.funschool.com
"Subject Matter: early childhood education subjects
"Age Level: preschool through 6th grade
"Description: I decided to feature a site for the younger set this week. Funschool is aptly named as it presents activities for youngsters that are fun and educational at the same time. It is a great place for the younger set to get acclimated to the computer and using the mouse, etc.
"After you spend a few minutes with your child to familiarize him/ her with the site and how to use the games, you can even let them have some fun and educational independent time on the PC. But try to be around to give your youngster congratulations on their successes and help when necessary..."
This is another of the noble efforts which the Web could use a larger dose of. My hat's off to Learn It On the Web. I think you'll like what you find at the Web site, and the gems this newsletter has to provide. Recommended.
