The Internet Times
THE INTERNET TIMES is the twice monthly e-mail version of the Web site of the same name. Lots of people don't like reading articles on their computer monitors so e-mail provides a printer-friendly version of the news and information on this site that you can read in your easy chair or while taking a train to work. The focus of The Internet Times, as the name implies, is on Internet technology advances and their marketing applications, trends and how the new technologies emerging around the medium are changing business and society.

The Internet Times is produced by Global Reach and has been around since 1996. The focus is global Internet enterprises. Here's a listing of article topics from their November first edition:

"* 1 November

  • The second internet revolution
  • To survive a future filled with information we will need help from implanted devices
  • GM to offer Net access in cars soon
  • Taxi Service On Info Superhighway In San Francisco
  • 'Snortal' proves the Net stinks
  • Worldwide Internet Trade Shows"

Both of the newsletter and the Web site are available in a variety of international languages. The page listed for registration here is in English, but from that homepage you can follow the link to one for the language that best suits you.

Here's a quick snippet from one of the articles I found in their archives:

"Shape of things to come ----------------------- "When science fiction writer William Gibson coined the term cyberspace, he envisioned a totally immersive, three-dimensional virtual reality - a far cry from the World Wide Web of today.

"But scientists around the world are already starting to build the Internet of tomorrow, and it is beginning to look more like Mr Gibson's vision.

"Research scientists and the National Science Foundation in the US have begun to work on an ultra-high bandwidth network.

"The very-high performance Backbone Network Service operates at speeds of up to 2.5 gigabits per second.

"Home computer users at present do well if they manage data transfer rates of 33 kilobits per second when accessing the Internet over conventional telephone lines.

"One gigabit is roughly a million kilobits. Scientists hope that their research will begin the next round of the Internet revolution..."

Whether your interest is simply in the technology or also in the business side of the future of the Internet, The Internet Times is an excellent resource with well-written and informative articles. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
