CRAZY.NET is supposed to be a monthly publication. Perhaps it is, and its author is traveling between star systems and it only seems publication on Earth is less frequent because of varying time dilation effects. But it's still a cool 'zine.
Or possibly New Zealand, where editor/publisher Adrian lives, is just on an even more different time zone than we already thought. Hard to tell. Anyway, if you subscribe, you'll get an occasional piece in your e-mail inbox from South of Down Under, perhaps with a Windows tip or trick or two in it, a few pro-Linux comments (close to the Penguins, right?), maybe a little bit about wearable computers, and maybe a software review like this one:
|^^^^ MY NAME IS LEGION
http://www.actionplus.com/products/legion/default.htm When you visit a web page or FTP site Windows asks your Internet provider's DNS (Domain Name Server) to translate Internet addresses like www.crazyman.co.nz to IP numbers like 209.100.138.231. If your ISP's server is slow this name lookup process can cause a bottleneck. Windows allows you to sidestep DNS lookups with a text file on your local machine (the HOSTS file) that lists Internet addresses and matching IP numbers. By adding the IP numbers of sites that you regularly visit to the hosts file you can speed up page retrieval. If this sounds all too technical then 'LEGION the HOSTS Master' can help you manage your hosts file. Amongst other things LEGION lets you quickly add the IP's of sites listed in your browser bookmarks. 3.35 MB, freeware, Win 95/NT.
And, perhaps, a silly little closing statement, like...
You Know You're Drinking Too Much Coffee When...
- You have to watch videos in fast-forward.
- You can type 60 words per minute... with your feet.
- You're so wired, you pick up AM radio.
- You channel surf faster without a remote.
- You don't even wait for the water to boil anymore.
Stay wired. Take care.
- Crazyman
