Palm Pilots and other handheld computing devices are the latest craze for busy executives and politicians. They probably got tired of carrying around those heavy laptops--after all, who wants to lug that carrying case for an oversized, overpowered address book? The 3Com-Palm mailing list is a place for Palm users to congregate and discuss all things handheld.
This was the most recent post when I visited the archives, and I think it is a very interesting and beneficial question:
"Which would be the correct palm III ,IIIx or VII to have the basic ability to enter name and address for a customized delivery receipt? I was told that a palm device had the ability to type in names without having to add a keybord for entry. Is this correct? At 5 or 6 oz's weight this is the same weight of a pad of 100 delivery slips, numbered. Will the PC have to have a special print software to print the delivery receipt with the signature for customer requests for delivery confirmation? I'm trying to use the palm as a paper free form of delivery receipt. I hope to use the device to fax back a delivery confirmation to the customer using the Pocketmail.com email or fax service available from any phone. I need someone who is curently using the palm device in a delivery type of enviroment to please give me any helpful positive feedback. Any comments? Do you know of someone doing something similar?"
The list has about 150 members, and the posts come and go, like most lists' activity.
