32BITSONLINE NEWSLETTER is full of news about alternative -- read "not Windows" -- personal computer operating systems. It started out primarily talking about OS/2 in 1996, but later shifted its emphasis toward Linux, with other operating systems still mentioned and discussed, but not quite as much as before. This newsletter is a fine, easy-reading way to keep up with happenings in the non-MS computing world.
There's plenty of news here about Linux, and more than a little about Mac, Be, BSD, and yes, OS/2. The 32BITSONLINE motto is "Because there's more than one way to compute." True. But most news of the "other ways" is buried in tech-dense publications meant to be read only by users of those operating systems, and may offer little useful information for someone who wants to keep up on all of them at once, especially if that person doesn't have a deep technical background.
Editor Ronny Ko does a fine job of keeping 32BITSONLINE targeted, but this is a reader-built, cooperative effort than anything else. Your submissions are always welcome, both for the newsletter and the 32BITSONLINE . You don't need to be a great writer; 32BITSONLINE content is not apparently chosen for grammatical correctness as it is for technical accuracy. (It's a place to share computer expertise, not writing talent.)
The newsletter is essentially a sidebar to the Web site, but for those who don't have time to check the Web site frequently, or need the information on it but might forget to check it regularly, the newsletter is a fine way to keep up with news of the computing world that lives, flourishes, and thrives happily without Windows.
