If it's FREE, it's Me Newsletter
If you're very new to the Web, perhaps even still unaware that AOL is not the only or best service provider available, IT'S FREE, IT'S ME is a site that you will find helpful. It's an E-zine and Newsletter, your choice of format, produced by Christian Schwartz and comes out "once or twice a week."

On the Web site you can find an archive of past issues and see if you are one of the people who'll find a site like this a good guide for your exploration of the Internet. It's very family friendly, has jokes, tips for starting your own Web site (including a listing of ISPs like Angelfire and GeoCities -- complete with specs -- which offer you free Web space), encourages you to share copies of the newsletter with your family and friends, and get them to join.

This is very obviously a newsletter by a regular guy who finds the Internet an interesting and fun way to communicate and thinks other folks like himself would too. No fancy stuff here, no heavy technology talk. He suggests creating a newsletter for your local baseball team! Then he offers to help you do it.

IT'S FREE, IT'S ME also provides you with links to free contests on the Web where you may win cash or merchandise, and it has a Provocative Thought of the Day each week like this one:

"Today's Provocative Thought: One of the mysteries of life is how the boy who wasn't considered good enough to marry the daughter can be the father of the smartest grandchild in the world.
"Anonymous"

I understand that some readers may be saying to themselves: "HUH?" This newsletter is not the usual TechMailings fare.

I'm reviewing this site because NOT everyone on the Web is an old computer geek, a programmer, or some technology guru. Some of us are just folks. We show up at the office, the shop, or the factory every day, take our kids to Little League, and see this medium as a great way to stay in touch with friends and family in and out of town.

That being the case, sites like IT'S FREE, IT'S ME make this mish-mash of overwhelming information a little easier to comprehend, and put a friendly "voice" on the other side of our screens. Check it out!
