AdInfinitumWeb
ADDINFINITUMWEB provides a classic example of what you should *not* do if you want Tech Mailings Guy to begin reviewing your Web site and list with a good taste in his mouth. Never, I repeat, never list a Web site attached to your list until one actually exists.

This is what I found when I went to Web page reference which supposedly supports this list:

"May 18, 1999 "

"Sorry everyone, this page/site isn't up yet with even a prototype of a jazzy design since I didn't expect that many people to join the list overnight =) Nevertheless, just so you know, you can check out the eGroups page listing at the following URL:

"To subscribe, send a blank email to
"To unsubscribe, send a blank email to

"Elyssah

"Quick references will be posted shortly
"Message Boards will be online shortly"

ASTUTE E-ZINE PUBLISHERS & READERS, PLEASE NOTE: This citation was posted in May. I went to the Web site in AUGUST. How do you define "shortly?"

Okay, so I was already in the mood to write a pan rather than a pick. But I'm not a totally unreasonable guy. I said to myself, "This is about an e-mail newsletter, after all. Maybe the newsletter is absolutely boffo."

I followed the link to e-Groups to take a gander at the newsletter archive. From the e-Groups statistics provided on that page I learned that there were three postings in the May discussion group, none in June, and six in July. I clicked through to take a look at July.

Here's the skinny: There has only been one edition of this newsletter so far. That edition came out on May 28, 1999. It was not bad. There were tips on JavaScript, resource listings for Perl scripts, and even a tip on MivaScript --- which nobody ever talks much about. So there are things to learn here.

The downside, of course, is that this list is so moribund and unreliable that you and I have no guarantee of an edition #2, #3, and so on. It could well be that this was one of those noble experiments which died due to lack of interest.

On the other hand, some breathing human had to place their Mailing List Details here recently, so maybe they are hoping for a comeback.

I'm in a charitable mood today. I won't "Not Recommend" them, but I won't encourage you to rush over and subscribe, either.
